Colonic Irrigation

Colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation, is an alternative medical procedure, similar to an enema. It involves the introduction of large amounts of water, sometimes infused with minerals or other materials, into the colon.

The patient lies on his/her back on a bed and is completely covered. Water of different temperatures flows into his/her colon through a plastic tube, which is attached to a speculum inserted into the anus. The waste then flows back out of the patient through a closed system machine and into the sewage.

By performing a soft massage of the abdominal wall, the therapist can feel the problem areas and can guide the water to these points. There is no pain associated with the treatment at all there are no side effects.

A session usually lasts from 40 minutes to an hour depending on the individual. A complete beneficial treatment should consist of 5 – 7 sessions and a full treatment is recommended once a year.

The Importance

A normal bowel movement is 3 times a day i.e. if 3 meals are eaten each day, then a bowel movement should follow each meal. If this does not occur, a build up of fecal waste occurs in the colon, which then leads to auto- intoxication of the body and often disease. (Over the years, some people can have accumulated 12kg of waste!).

The slow waste builds up in the rest of the body often then results in skin blemishes, cellulite, migraines, halitosis, joint pain and stiffness as well as muscle weakness and fatigue.

Fecal impaction and the resulting toxic bowel may also allow for the frequent occurrence of yeast infection such as Candida, as well as Parasitic and Worm infection, both of which are factors that can precipitate cancer.

Constipation may also lead to malnutrition as it prevents the production and absorption of several of the B vitamins as well as vitamin K by the colon. In addition to the vitamins, the colon is also responsible for absorbing large amounts of water, which then inhibited by waste build up, may result in dehydration.

Constipation is not remedied by the use of laxatives, which are merely an irritant to the colon. They draw out water from the body and clear only the most recently digested waste. The impacted material is left behind on the colon walls where it accumulates. The accumulation often results in a spastic colon, gas and bloating.

80% of the immune system is located in the walls of the large and small intestine. If the large intestine is not functioning as it should a weakened immune system results with symptoms such as frequent colds, influenza and allergies, resulting.
